Derby rules
Here you will find all of the rules for participating in the Kittanning Trout Derby. Please read them carefully to ensure that you are following every guideline and requirement. We are committed to making the derby a fair and enjoyable event for all participants.
- Each Participant must be properly registered, must display official
tournament registration button, and if over 15 years of age, must possess a valid PA State Fishing License. All PA Fish & Boat Com
mission Rules Apply. - NEW:: You will be allowed to pull the tags on the small fish yourself this year.This will make it easier to allow quick release of these and promote future growth. If you get a big one and you are in the big trout contest YOU MUST BRING FISH IN. We use the weight as a tie breaker. If you are not in the big trout contest, just pull the tag.
- There will still be a 5 trout limit per day, per participant. All Judge’s decision’s are final. All fish must be legally and fairly caught. No snagging or net line
permissible. - Only fish caught by registered participants are eligible for prizes.
- Entrants may begin fishing Saturday at 6:00 AM and must stop
fishing by 7:00 PM with check-in station open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Entrants may begin fishing on Sunday at 6:00 AM and must stop fishing
by 1:00 PM with check-in station open from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No fish
will be accepted after closing times. Official Time will be
kept at the Check-In Tent. - Any individual found in violation of the rules will be disqualified.
- Respect property owner’s rights. Stay off posted lands and clean up
after yourselves. - The sponsor of this tournament encourages catch and release so
others may enjoy fishing in this area. - All prize money must be claimed prior to the end of the tournament.
Camping
We will be offering free camping at Kittyland / Stitt Field
- Camping will be on a first come, first served basis.
- There is limited room for campers, while tenting space in unlimited.
- Camper’s must register at the check in Point.
